Slightly left of the infinity symbol the ring stops momentarily but can easily be twisted further left and indefinitely. Same with the right direction, stops and continues. Is this poor behavior?

I don't have my camera at this moment to test it or even see if the AF works...

For interest's sake, that's the focus ring.

Aperture rings are what older lenses have to control the... well... aperture!
