ETA (estimated time of arrival) is in two weeks.
That's just before the holidays.
Hope my dealer's right!

Yeah: The 35/1.4 already is in stock, but I'm still waiting for the 85/1.4G to arrive.
---
As I'm a cheapo, I ordered both lenses to be delivered as one. Just to save on P&P

Still no sign of the 85/1.4G.
But the 35/1.4G is now on its way :D :D :D
Should arrive in time for some first impressions over the weekend...

You reconsidered your cheapo status then?

Looking forward to reading your first impressions.

Well, to be honest: I did reconsider the burden of an additional 5.90 EUR p&p vs. the alternative of not having any new lens for the holidays at all.
The decision was relatively simple :D

Oh wow it's expensive! As important good, fast and sharp glass is to me, I don't think that I would spend that much, at least not at the current moment.

Nice one!
I'd be especially interested in how it rank up against the cheap 35mm F/1.8, because that's reported to work quite well on full frame, despite being a DX lens.

Indeed, I've seen in the forum a few quite impressive shots of the little f/1.8 taken, if I remember correctly, with a D700. Depending on the aperture things got better or worse, but in most cases results were quite acceptable (besides, vignetting is easy enough to compensate in PP).

Nontheless, this one plays in a different league, I expect exceptional results from Thomas' new adquisition.

Sorry no comparison to the 35/1.8DX as I only have the 35/2.0 (FX) and the 50/1.4 (FX) to compare to.

Well, that's more than enough if I may say so; those two are both classics in Nikon's lineup, and with a good reputation too :)

Got the 35/1.4G and the 85/1.4G (not arrived yet) from www.comstern.de of Germany which is affiliated to www.PCP.CH in Switzerland.
But only one dealer in my fav price-search-engine lists this lens as "available".

Hmm, at lest as far as sharpness is concerned, this lens seem to be worth every penny. Will you be testing it on a FX body? It should be interesting to see if corner sharpness keeps up with the good results seen in your tests for DX.
