The 18-105 is inner-focusing ;)

The 18-105 is sharp, fairly decently built, focuses quickly, has VR and a very useful range. There is fundamentally nothing wrong with it, it has a plastic lens mount but that doesn't make much of a difference in practice unless you thrash your gear and I think the lens would have been replaced long before wear and tear starts to cause problems.

EvanK, don't take this wrong way but I think you need to spend some time with these lenses in a real world situation before you put them down.

I've used the lenses before, I REALLY don't like their build, but I've never used them in the real world.

Yea, I don't particularly like the build of my 18-135 either and its worse than the 18-105. I thought this would be a problem and that I'd upgrade it soon enough but I've gotten a couple more lenses and the 18-135 is still here.

It's still my sharpest lenses after my 60mm macro.
