When I first tried the d7000, my experience was that the buffer wouldn't fill anywhere near as quickly as read and seen in a number of reviews. (between 2-3 secs reported)

However after a week of playing with my new d7000 I went to use the continuous shooting and was finding it was slowing down as quickly as reported, much slower than when I first got it.

Checking the manual, it says long exposure noise reduction and jpeg compression are the two settings that can affect it, so I turned NR off and jpeg compression to size priority. No change.

After going through all the options, I turned off 'auto distortion control' ... Instant change! It now shoots for 6-7 seconds with no slow down (using a 5yo class 6 card) and clears pretty quickly.

Just thought I'd point this out that it's not mentioned anywhere in the manual yet this option makes much more of a difference than those mentioned to the time it takes to write to the card!

Great finding! And auto distortion is as far as I see useful when shooting JPEGs only, because any software program nowadays can do it for you (maybe even better).
