I could save even more money by getting the Opteka BP-D80 with 2 batteries instead of the MB-D80.

Why I read some reviews and talked to some people who had it and they said it was well worth the money and the only downside is that the thumb dial is a little stiff.

Nathan,

I've moved this topic into the Nikon forum as it is totally Nikon specific. The "Buying a new camera..." forum is, and I quote, "The forum for anyone buying a new camera and wondering which brand to go for". As you are a Nikon owner/upgrader you should get better feedback in this forum as well.

Sorry it took me so long to realise that this needed to be done. Good luck with the new kit.

Bob.

Are you saying you're selling an 18-55mm to your mate only to buy another one in a couple of weeks? Surely that's madness?

Be careful where you buy online. Check out the seller at www.resellerratings.com before placing an order. If you can try to use an established company such as B&H Photo, Amazon or Adorma. With Amazon be careful about the marketplace sellers.

Well the camera and lens (D80/18-55mm) ship from Beach Camera, as for the grip I think it may be 47th street photo.

-------------------
I should be ordering it tommorow or atleast by Saturday!

I am getting...

Nikon D80
BP-D80 w/2 batteries
18-55mm II

then in a few weeks I will pick up a 50mm f/1.8!

---------------------
Gah, they said they won't be able to buy until after Christmas, but that is cool because that just gives me more time to buy lenses or maybe just save up for a better body like the originally planned D200. I am not gonna lead into that discussion again, so we will end it hear.

Not meaning to be rude. But there's an edit button for a reason :)

You're right but, whats the point when the thread is over? I just havn'ta sked for it to be closed I think, if a mod wants to they can go ahead and close this.

No need, Nathan. I think (but am only guessing) what antman meant was that a running day by day commentary as a sequence of new posts is maybe a bit too close to treating the forum as a personal blog. Perhaps a way out of this, when nobody has replied since your last post, is to edit that last post rather than create a new one? Reserve new posts in a thread for replies to other forum members or fresh questions and answers (as opposed to updates on how the order is going).

I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that I am sorry you are going to have to wait a little longer for the new kit. There have been a lot of admiring comments on your work (both on the forum and in private) and I know you will make excellent use of the new camera when it finally arrives. Meanwhile, keep taking photos and please share your best work with us.

Bob.

Thanks Bob, I see what you guys meant now. I will remember to edit instead of post.

Also thanks for the compliments on the compliments on my work.
