Hi all, new to the forum.

I havent got one yet but im planning on getting a Nikon D40 as my first DSLR camera.

I know very little about photography and have read this camera is a good place to start regarding SLR.

I currently have a Kodak digital camera and its Easyshare Printer Dock Series 3.

I was just wondering if this can be used/hooked up to the D40, and if not is there a printer dock out there to use with this camera?

Hi Chris01,

Welcome to the Camera Labs forum.

Unfortunately I have neither the Easyshare Printer Dock Series 3 or a D40 but I note that, in relation to the Easyshare dock, the Kodak site states "You can also print directly from any digital camera with PictBridge capability, or from most popular memory cards when using the optional KODAK 8-in-1 Card Reader or KODAK 6-in-1 Card Reader". The Nikon D40 is PictBridge compatible.

So it looks as though you can print but obviously other capabilities like battery charging wouldn't apply. Are there any forum members reading this who have this dock and use it with a non-Kodak camera?

Thanks for the info Bob, it would make life a whole lot easier if i could just hook it up to the one i have. :D

I never use it to charge my camera anyway so thats no problem.

Forget the printer dock mate. Invest a further £15 in a Sandisk 5 in 1 card reader when you buy your camera. Just as easy to use.

Well i decided im gonna get the D40 and just wing it with the printer dock thing.

Im just getting the standard lens kit to start with and if need be get the 150mm or 200mm in a couple months, maybe a drop a few christmas present hints, lol.

The printer dock isnt mine, its my mums, she uses it alot and i never do but i thought i better ask incase i have to sell that too.

Hopefully ill be taking good enough pics to make A4 prints or there abouts.
