I found one while lookign through some threads in a group of mine on flickr. I researched it and it cost around $70 and comes with a AA or EN-EL3 container for the batteries. I am ordering it in like 2 days and can't wait.

Aside form its obvious benefits, it will help me feel better about my cameras build.haha.not a contributing factor to why I buying it but, I think my D40 will feel much more solid with this on.

enjoy it - i never take off my (overpriced) canon BG-E3 grip.
for me, the grip was way too small without it and can leave 2 batteries fitted.

Nathan

Hows the grip ? Does it do what it advertised ?
Reviews please

Interesting on this since Nikon does not produce any grip for the D40/x - unless i am mistaken.

Nice find Nate,

Even though the D40 already has like a really good battery life (without using the LCD a lot), the battery grip will double the power giving a ungodly amount of shots on a single charge.

Welcome to the Grip Club!

I got the BG-E3 Battery Grip for my 350D, equipped with 2 batteries in it.

Makes the camera feel and look more substancial, with the added weight and size. I actually just took it off today, and I find it more awkward to hold even in landscape since the bottom of my hand kind of comes just below the batter bit (with out the grip) so with the grip on the bottom of my hand is still on the camera.

Like David said, once you get it do a review, since I bet there are a few D40(x) owners or owners to be that would appreciate it :D

Good luck with your purchase!

I am no longer buying this because I am getting a D80 body as soon as I pick up like $150, so no review...sorry.
