Hello everybody,

I am interested in buying a decent macro lens for my Nikon D50, any recommendations? I am thinking of the Micro Nikkor 60mm and I have a $400-500ish price limit. Keep me posted! :D

Not sure how much the Nikkor 105mm is, but forum moderator Tombomba likes his:

I heard a lot of good things about Tamron's 90mm f/2.8 SP Di macro; very nice test results on photozone.de

If you want it cheap, buy the Tamron SP AF 90mm 2.8 Di Macro (tested here) or the Sigma AF 105mm 2.8 EX DG Macro (tested here) or the Nikon Micro 60mm 2.8D tested here.
If you want the best, buy the Nikon AF-S VR 105mm 2.8G IF-ED. It is the only one with IS (VERY IMPORTANT with macro shots)!

I've been wanting a macro lens ever since I got my D80. Our second wedding anniversary is coming up next week and I bought my wife a diamond necklace, she is very kindly buying me a Nikon AF-S VR 105 f/2.8G IF-ED :)

Congrats Phil! Sounds like a good deal! Hey, you can use the lens to take photos of the necklace too...
