Hi,

I'm looking for a zoom lens with good Macro performance for Nikon digital SLRs. I need a minimum of 400 pixel per centimeter. I'm currently using a nikkor 28 to 105 mm macro zoom lens. I'm obtaining approximately 600 pixels per inch which is good enough. However, the coverage of the lens is not sufficient. Are you aware of a zoom lens that would offer a better coverage (~ 18mm) and macro capability.

Thanks.

Hello CSI, thanks for your message.

I have recently completed tests on three 18-200mm Nikon fit lenses, from Nikon, Sigma and Tamron. We are currently in the middle of a photographic trip, but once thats completed, I will complete the reviews and post the results. Im afraid I do not have the results to hand right now so cannot comment on the macro performances here. The reviews should be published during April. Apologies for the delay.

Gordon

Please review the Nikkor micro 105/2,8 VR! It's not a zoom, but from the specifications I would assume, that it's pretty powerful: An aperture of 2,8 plus the famous VR technology. That must be a killer qualitywise, when it comes to close ups (up to 1:1)...
Plus show us a comparison with close-up lens(es) and expanders, as they let us combine the flexibility of our current lenses (e.g. the fantastic 18-200 VR) with close-up!
