I set my vinyl background flat on the floor yesterday and tried the flashguns in different directions, angles, and positions etc.

When I use it as a background (upright), it usually works fine, but I couldn't seem to light it effectively. Maybe I need a softbox or something.

The light (flash) appeared to shine in random directions. Some of it was very bright, and some not covered atall.

I tried to direct the flash towards the subjects as well as possibly, but not much luck, with the flash by itself anyway.

Canon EOS 500D
Lenses: EFS 18-55mm IS, EF 50mm F/1.8 II
