Hi all!

I'm not sure if this is in the right category. If it isn't, could you tell me where to put it? Thanks!

Anyways, today I started painting with light. For those who don't know, it's when you take a long exposure of something, and while the shutter of the camera is open, you "Paint" with a light over your subject.

I tried this with some of my flowers by my pool. These are my first, so could you please give me some feedback and techniques? Here's the link to them, they're the flowers:

I used my Powershot A460, a 5 second exposure and ISO 100. Sorry that I can't give the aperture or shutter speed, buy my basic camera won't let me change it or tell me what it was.

How are the pictures?

I personally think the pictures are very dark around the flowers, but you still see some details in the darkness.
What did you use as a light? It seems a bit harsh.

That's a good start. I think you should move the flowers from the floor, so the background will be further away, use a softer light and decide if you want to include some background or not.

Here is a test I did. It's not perfect, but the exposure is longer (10s), the light is softer (flashlight from a distance) and I wanted the background in my picture.
