I've got my D90 setup to do this. I always bounce the flash when walls or ceilings or even floors are available and I use a little bounce card when it isn't.

I'm not sure what mode to use on the camera when doing rear curtain sync. What I think is the obvious thing to do is to have the lowest aperture because by using a slow shutter speed and then flash at the end, you want the subject to stand out. So I use aperture priority. Is this what others do?

I shoot RAW only and never ever use P or M, only shutter or aperture priorities.

Also, what about the flash mode. TTL? I've found that it doesn't recycle very quickly. Should I power it down a bit?

Open up your aperture as much as possible, and perhaps bump your ISO to 400 to save your batteries :)

I take pictures so quickly, my highschool was "Continuous High".
