Hello everyone! I am in the workings of starting my portraiture studio, and have begun documenting and posting on a blog. I just thought I'd share the link with all of you. Please feel free to give any comments, criticisms on my information and ideas, and I would be very grateful if you kept with me during this process to make sure I don't make any wrong turns. Thank you!

Hi djfsolo, good luck with your studio!

Just a quick note about your blog though - we're happy for members to link to their blogs and photo streams, but if a member doesn't post about anything else, or doesn't contribute to the forum in general, then it'll be deemed as advertising and edited or removed. The mods and I had a discussion about your post as it originally had the URL in the title and you'd not posted for a while, but we've given you the benefit of the doubt as the blog and project looks interesting. Just be careful not to fall into the trap of some previous members who only used this forum to promote their own sites.

Thanks, and good luck again with the project,

Gordon

Thanks Gordon. I admit I do not post much on here, really only in the monthly competitions. But I am about to change this.

I would like to reach out to everyone on here who uses Alienbees lights. I currently have one Alienbees B800, 4 grids, and one 32x40 large softbox. I just ordered 2 more B800s, one receiver, and the cyber commander. For the time being I am borrowing 3 cheap stands from my school, and hopefully the gear will arrive this weekend in time for me to start to play with it.

For the time being all I can really do is have direct control over one light with the receiver (I planned this to be my main light with softbox) and trigger the others via optic slaves. I was going to set the other two up as kickers on either side of whatever "backdrop" I can contrive for the time being. A friend of mine wants some shots of him and his sister this weekend so I am wondering if any of you can provide any quick DIY setups I can use with just these pieces of gear. I have one windshield sun-reflector to use as a reflector but thats it.

Are there any setups I might want to try out?

Also the cyber commander looks pretty complicated from the pcbuff website, any comments on it's overall fluidity when working with it?

Thanks-
