okay so I had an sb-900
but had to sell it to pay a bill ): oh the economy
but now ive been blessed and have about 450 dollars for lighting
I was wondering, considereing i do mostly portraits
would it be better to buy another sb-900
or buy a lighting kit
if so which one should i buy

I have a variety of gadgets that capture and create light... people tell me their cameras, lenses, strobes, and speedlights...who knows

You'll get a lot more power and light modifiers with a lighting kit. I have the GN300AD from falcon eyes, and love it! Includes 2 stands and 2 softboxes, and I bought an umbrella afterwards.

I take pictures so quickly, my highschool was "Continuous High".
