NSFM as in Not Suitable For Muslims

Dubai, being a Muslim country has many mosques and minarets. Lots are beautiful pieces of traditional or modern architecture, lots are uplit stunningly at night to show off ornate tiling.

This one, however, just looks like a big...

I needed cheering up as tomorrow is the first day of Ramadan. To the guys observing the Holy Month, you have my upmost respect for your faith and commitment, espscially if you are fasting by day in 120f/50c climates.



Anyway, back to that minaret:

I personally feel that it is a question of depiction rather than representation.
You could only capture something that was designed by the architect as such.

Regarding the photo, it appears that a little cropping could help. The crescent going up right to the top margin and a little crop from below may enhance the effect of the minaret. It will also remove the vignetting from the top left corner. But that is a personal opinion

Been in Dubai for some time. Which part of the city is this from?

I deliberately kept this as just a snapshot, rather than concentrating on cropping etc.

This is from Bur Dubai and is a mosque between the Dubai Museum and Textile Souk.
