Hey guys,

Here's a photo composition I'm considering putting on my wall... I've done a fair amount of work to it, but I'd like to hear some comments from the experts. I know some of you might say "why is that building floating"... but have it be known that everyone who walks in my house will recognize it.

About the location: It's taken from Signal Hill, in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. This city is known as the oldest city in North America. The tower was constructed in 1897 as a 400 year celebration of John Cabot's landing in Newfoundland. This is also the location of the first trans atlantic wireless signal received by Guglielmo Marconi on Dec 12, 1901.

There seems to be a lot of flare in the dark sky (presume from highlights in pp) & needs tilting to the left a little.

A cool pic though

I think the photo is nice and would look much better blown up then here on my 24" screen

However I think you need to correct the flare above the city and possibly clone in some detail into the sky

No one will know that the "stars" are dubbed in

Always adding some detail. that's my motto

others may disagree but I feel this is a good addition that can bring this photo from "nice" to rather aesthetically pleasing

Hmm... two out of two of the critiques have commented to reduce the flare. I actually spent some time in pp to get it to look this way, color and shape. Is having city flare typically an unwanted thing?

I think it looks a bit like the flare is coming from behind what of the city you can see, but I kind of like it this way, when there is no stars, because then the city is giving a kind of warmth, but ofc it all depends on perspective, if you like it this way - go for it

I like the “flare”, it seems more natural to leave it in place than a sky dark at the horizon. I see a tilt too though. All in all it is a very nice shot.
