I think B&W is much about the contrast. Try playing with the contrast a bit, as well as light and shadows :)

second one is not good, it doesn't say/show anything specially interesting

you should have taken picture of whole building, I'm sure I would have been better :D

I actually like the second one the most. I like the lines against the sky the most, but you could bring a bit more contrast to it, like what Citruspers said.

Thanks for the input, everyone - I did up the contrast quite a bit on both of these, but perhaps I can go even further with it...
