50D + Tamron 18-270VC, 18mm, 1/30s, f/8, ISO100. Click for bigger version.

I didn't realise this until I looked up what the various buildings were, but many parts of political power (past and present) are in such a close area.

The funky looking building slightly right of centre is the Scottish Parliament building. Immediately to the right of this is Hollyroodhouse palace where the Queen stays when visiting the area. Towards the centre back is St. Andrew's House on the side of Calton Hill, home to the Scottish government. And finally, in the background on the left is Edinburgh Castle.

This is a 3 frame stitch in Photoshop Elements from jpegs, with various lighting tweaks. The distortion of the Tammy might have been a bit much not helping the edge areas becoming rather blurry from the perspective correction.

That's a really cool photo. I like how you included some of the hill you're standing on.

Thanks, but in this case it wasn't an artistic choice. There is a rather big fall over the edge so I didn't want to get too close ;)

I agree with Shag, I like the foreground a lot in this shot.
I also like how it makes me feel like I can see the curvature of the earth. Looks fantastic.
