Camera Labs

I'm trying to do some "studio" photography at home. Since i don't have anything that nearly qualifies as a studio, I decided to start off with some small stuff.
This is is my first try, and I know its pretty much no good. But I just can't figure out what it is that I need to do. Help would be much appriciated




P.S. I'm using photoshop CS3, but Ive only had it for a week, so I kinda suck at it.

Alright well...

First you need to see what kind of studio work are you after?

You displayed a product-shot. For a product shot, It's not bad. A bit tilted, but nevertheless a shot that clearly shows the subject...

But I recommend that continue to work with different subjects, using different compositions, different backdrops, etc'.

Check out some of the product shots shown here at CameraLabs and even check out some still-life photographers off of Google. They should all give you a broader look at what can be achieved from studio work.

What I wanted to do for a start, was product shots of small products, since i think it's possible to do that with very little equipment.
I think I struggle more with the post processing than with the actual photographing. So maybe some relevant photoshop tutorials is what i need?

Well then, my mistake. Position the light differently. Try to soften it up.
