A statue in a local park depicting a Canadian soldier defending a woman

Image

Note: I've just been teaching myself a bit out Depth of Field lately, still pretty new to this, so my objective was to try and blur out the background a bit to just try and focus on the statue. I cropped a bit off the top so there wasn't so much empty space taking up the photo.

I shot this with my 55-200mm VR lens at f/4.5 at 75mm....ISO 200 and shutter speed 1/2000 in case you wanted to know.

C&C is always welcome..

Cheers

I like the composition and crop of the photo. I would suggest trying this shot with your 18-55 zoomed out instead of the 55-200. The reason is that since longer focal lengths make distant objects appear larger, the trees in the background appear very large and are rather distracting from the statue. Zooming out to 18mm and filling the frame with the statue will make the composition much more focused on it, and you will also be able to use your 18-55 at f/3.5 to blur the background more.

That's an awesome suggestion, thank you...I will try that on the same statue and post up the results.
