Here's me experimenting with my wireless flash, taking some photos of smoke trails.

The setup was fairly simple. I lit an incense stick, and placed my flash at a 90 degree angle from my camera to illuminate the smoke as it rose. To get some slightly more interesting smoke trails, I shook the incense stick and twirled it around.

#3 is my favourite. Really nice effect.

I'd like to try these but only have a built in flash.

I'll Go for #1 & #3 look awesome. Did you put your flash on the floor or top of table & on a tripod ? & are you using a single flash only

I like 1 and 3 in that order. Pretty cool effect.

I put the flash on the same surface as the incense stick. With my camera facing the incense stick, the flash was about 1 foot to the left of the incense stick. The head of the flash was tilted slightly upwards to better illuminate the smoke.

It was great fun taking these photos. My living room smells of musk though
