Finishing my synoptic met homework early last night meant I had some time to play. I'd left a neat pile of pencil shavings on my desk by the end of things, having had to make sure my cloud edges, precipitation shields, and surface features stood out enough from a distance. The whole product is called a "nephanalysis" (neff-a-nal-uh-sis) and combines looking at weather balloon data to find clouds and non-surface air masses, satellite imagery, radar, and surface station reports to produce a detailed, accurate overview of the current weather. I'm getting quicker at these, it only took me 2 hours last night

Anyways, the pile of shavings inspired me to make a photo of the whole setup. The light comes from a flash on a stand at camera left, bouncing off my wall at camera right set to manual at 1/16th power and triggered with CyberSyncs.

I have no clue what you are talking about meteorology-wise but I just logged in just to show my liking of this photo - especially the blurry pencil shavings and the sharp part on the map.

Thanks HTG! I wish my current semester had more courses like this one, but alas I'm learning about wave propagation and partial differential equations...
