thanks greg, i am considering this lens for quite a while, do you find 35mm @f2 is sharper in D700 or just the same as D80?

I haven't really compared the results to be honest. You'd be comparing a 35mm fov to a 50mm fov, so it's not really the same, or a fair test.

Hmm, it all depends on what you're shooting. Obviously you wouldn't want to take a shot of a city scape at night, at f2 as yes, it's not that sharp.
Fast lenses aren't for shooting wide open just because you can, they are for shooting wide open when you want more subject isolation, or when you can't get the shot otherwise. In a nut shell, I'm happy. :wink:
