Hi folks,

As the Lens Gallery has now progressed to more than one page it might be helpful to provide an index, sorted by manufacturer. Click on the lens you are interested in to open the appropriate gallery thread in a new window.

If you have added a lens to the gallery and it has got missed from this index please add a post to this thread.

Bob.

Hi folks,

Just a few words about the index. As we have Gordon's excellent references for the Canon Lens Listing and the Nikkor Lens Listing I took the opportunity to unify the naming convention for not only the names in the index above but also in the associated threads. This seemed particularly apposite for the Nikkors as some thread titles included NIKKOR at the end, some at the beginning and some didn't include Nikkor at all. So that left me with a decision to either excise the word Nikkor or have each thread start with "Nikon Nikkor". In the end I opted for the latter on the basis that the lenses are so good they named them twice. 8)

Lacking any such reference for the other makes of lenses I left those strictly alone so any ambiguities are down to the thread originators. :?

I hope the index proves useful and if you see any errors or omissions then please PM me and I'll try and put things right.

Bob.

As far as the Nikkor lenses are concerned, I would suggest adding a link to this official Nikon glossary for all those letters on the specifications: VR, ED, G, DX, etc.

Hi Luis,

Good suggestion. But it wouldn't do to show favouritism so I've added similar links, where possible, alongside the other manufacturer names. Exceptions are Lensbaby (no glossary) and Minolta (camera business taken over by Sony). I've also added a link to Canon's unique "EF Lens Work III" for the Canon aficionados. 8)

Bob.

Hi folks,

I've updated the Sony section of the Index to reflect the naming convention used in Gordon's new Sony Alpha DSLR lens range page. If I've made any bloopers then please let me know and I'll correct them. Thanks. 8)

Bob.
