This thread is for the EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM

I have found the lack of a thread for this lens to be disappointing, so I've decided to rectify this issue.

Not sure if its your camera or the lens but that photo looks like it came from a 200 dollar compact camera. Do you have better pictures for us.

I panicked when I saw the thread title and thought, "did I buy the right lens....here goes...click....yes I did!"

But in all honesty, I'm 100% certain it's better than this.

Again, it was a cropped image from a jpg file. This was before I got into raw.

Unfortunately, I do not have the original image anymore, but considering the file is only 2.41 megs for my 10 MP camera, and if my recollection serves correctly, the bird was a good distance away and was relatively small on the original photo. I was impressed that I could make out the bug the bird had caught. I couldn't even confirm it had a bug with maximum magnification on the camera LCD.

I enjoyed the composition of this picture more than anything else.

I'll upload another picture sometime without cropping it to give a better understanding of the sharpness.

My eyes are drawn to the highest contrast point - the sky-tree section on the right. I didn't even notice the bird before you mentioned it!

Yeah, you would not normally think that type of bird could blend in well.

Been busy, but here's one picture took recently. Not too crazy about it, but it shows the sharpness better. Just some random lighthouse. Only editing done was to convert the RAW into JPG.

Here are some more photos taken with this lens.

The only editing I used was to convert the files from RAW to JPEG.
