What's up guys? Love the site and the videos; lots of great information. I just got my first *good* camera, a Nikon D80. I love it and I've been having a lot of fun w/it (see some pics at http://www.flickr.com/photos/skychasernyc
). Anyhow, I've run into this sort of situation a few times and my intuition tells me that you basically have to deal with it, but I figured I'd pop a topic in here and see what you guys have to say.
I was trying to take some pics in a parking lot during sunset. The sky looked beautiful, and the parking lot was being illuminated by those orange electric street lights. The problem I ran into was that if I adjusted the white balance to make the sky look right, the areas illuminated by the street lamps were way too red. If I adjusted the white balance to make the lights on the ground look right, the sky was way too blue. I sat there for quite some time trying to figure out how to get it to look right, and ultimately decided that it probably can't be done... Any tips?
