 Post subject: Exposure Compensation
PostPosted: Fri May 02, 2008 7:07 am
i just wanted to ask that when in auto mode.......suppose i am on 0 compensation and take a picture and i put on +2 compensation and take the same shot.........now when i view picture details.......first picture: 100 shutter 3.5 aperture............second picture: 30 shutter 3.5 aperture.............now with a 30 shutter obviously it will come bright........so my question is that is ths what the camera does......or is it just a fault of my camera?
:)
thanks in advance

Hi irfan_fatboy,

May I offer you a warm welcome to the CameraLabs forums.

Everything is fine. Each +1ev means a doubling of the amount of light so at a constant aperture that means a doubling of the shutter open time. So for +2ev you go from 1/100th to 1/25th which is close enough to 1/30th.

Bob.
