I was asked by Mr. Cliff if I could repost my "PP-tutorial/technique" post from
"Photo of the Day !!", so I will.
This is the original image:

It was a late afternoon with nice light and unfortunately I haven't brought my tripod. Therefore I tried to hold my camera as steady as possible. Some shot's with great success and some with less. This image was one with less success

And on to the PP
1. Opened the image in Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 and converted it to B&W. (I LOVE this program for B&W conversions!!!)
Applied contrast and softening.
Adjustet highlights, midtones and shadows.
2. Opened the image in Adobe Photoshop CS6
Cleaning up and removing bubbles, seaweed and other stuff...
3. Final touch-up's in Lightroom 4
Local sharpening of the sand and adjusting color temp. (yes it does have an effect on B&W).
The final result:
