C & C is very subjective and also depends on what you want the shot to be used for. Photography club expectations are different to stock library shots which are different from just general comments.

I have listened to competition judges who mark things down because they are tired of seeing so many of a certain shot type and others who give higher marks as they have an affinity with the subject matter.

If the shot is not being used for commercial purposes, in which case it will be judged by the purchaser and you like it then that makes it a good shot.

There are some shots that everyone would look at and say are great and others that leave so much to interpretation that the C & C can become conflicting.

A quick google of "how to critique photographs" had this at the top

I thought it a worthwhile read and while I don't agree with everything it's not a bad starting point

What reading it did make me ponder is that properly critiquing an image takes more than just a moment
