Camera Labs

Hi everyone,

Just got my camera out to take some photos of the snow and I realised I have a speck of dust somewhere. It is quite a large speck. It only shows up when you are looking through the viewfinder (not in live view) and doesn't show up in the picture. I am guessing it is somewhere in the viewfinder but have used my rocket blower, a lenspen and a microfibre cloth and can't find it. What should I do?

Any help would be great.

It'll probably be on either the mirror or the focus screen located at the top of the mirror chamber. Exercise caution poking around there!

Ive got one somewhere like that, but I can only see it when aiming at a white screen so i have just left it alone

Mine only shows up on light backgrounds. I will have another go with the rocket blower and see how that turns out. I don't know why this has happened as I am always very cautious when taking my lenses off. My friend leaves his camera exposed for ages and he has no problems. Guess its just luck.

tried again and no luck. A friends of mine is a professional photographer. I will get him to have a poke around since I am not to sure what I am doing. Thanks for all your help.
