Camera Labs

Hi all,
Sounds a bit strange, but my boss (or how do you call it?) has bought a Canon 350D with 18-55 and 100mm USM Macro 4 years ago.
Since he has had it, he only has used the fully auto mode until I saw what he was doing. Yesterday I explained much of the photographic rules (aperture, ISO, shutter, DoF etc) and he DIDNT use the camera a lot because it's too heavy, he now wants to use it all the time:) Today we were going to make pictures and he loves it! 3 days ago he almost hated it to take pictures, and now...really, I like that! Just better is that I get paid for my ''workshops''.

Wanted to tell it to some interested people here (try with your boss?)

P.S. I only work for 4 weeks with him, it's called here holidayjobs, as you work in the holidays to earn some money.

My boss of 16 years was about the same as yours - not very knowledgeable on photography. When I bought my A550 last year and was looking to sell my A300 body, he asked about buying it. I ended up selling him my A300 plus 18-55 kit lens, and then helped him look up and order a used 70-210 Minolta lens. He decided last minute to attend a photography meet-up at Disney World that I've been helping with for 4 years, learning the basics of photography and camera control. Since then, he's been addicted to it, is planning on coming up to Disney World again in December for the 5th photo meet, and has traveled to Poland, Czech Republic, Peru, and Dominican Republic with the camera.

It's nice having a shared interest with your boss, and it's great to still see my old camera body getting some good use! Usually you sell your old camera and never see it again - I still see mine all the time.

Razvan the best camera is the one you use, I forget who said that. The 350d is a "heavy" upgrade for someone who has only used p&s cameras. Just as manual mode is a "heavy" upgrade from using auto.

Like wise my $50 K1000 was an upgrade from my $120 Kodak Easy share.

Oh and Ruben I have a rich uncle who owns a 5d and only shoots on auto. I cringe every time I see him use it.

shawndw. My grandpa uses old film leica rangefinders. I gave him my 50d on auto to try and he said it was too confusing!
