Hi...
I am planning to buy a Canon eos 1000d. The kit lens is 18-55mm, which is about 3x. Is it possible to attatch a 200mm prime lens to the 18-55mm lens to get a 11.1x zoom? Or for that matter, can dslr lenses be joined in combination?
Thanks in advance,
Jinay.

Unfortunately no, you have to change the lenses to get both focal lengths. Look for zoom lenses such as the 18-200mm if you do want such a vast difference in focal lengths in one lens

What you can do though, is get a zoom lens that zooms to about 100mm, then use a reversing ring to mount a 50mm in front of it. Allows for some spectacular macros... :)

Definitely No. As Jeremy suggest, the 18 200 is a way to go :)
