Hi, I have a Sony A300 and i can't find the right setting to capture clear shots at the night time football games. shots come out dark and blurred! I got the iso set at 1600.

There's probably not much you can do to shoot blur-free action under low-light.

You can try Ap mode and choose the widest aperture for your brightest lens. If you're still getting really blurry shots then you can reduce exposure compensation which will allow faster shutter speeds at the expense of under-exposed shots.

Selecting burst mode can give you a selection of shots from which you can choose the least-blurry. If they're dark, then shooting in RAW (or RAW + jpeg) will give you some scope to lighten your shots in post-processing.

You're probably shooting beyond the limits of your technology. A camera with a higher ISO and faster lenses may help, but that means $$$.

Sad to hear that you were not satisfied with the outcome form the night time football game.But kimchi is right: That sort of sport is one of the most challenging tasks to capture successfully.
Mind to give us the aperture values and the shutter-speeds of those shots? Also posting an image could be helpful to understand what specifically went wrong and to find out whether there still is some optimization potential with your setup.

And to get back on topic: as said, night sports are really tough, especially with a camera with not-so-good low-light performance, and a slow lens.

If sony has a cheap 1.8 50mm lens, I highly recommend that, since you can get 8x the shutter speed as with your kitlens, which should greatly reduce blur!
