THE SHADOW OF DEATH

Puffins nest on a headland near us, they choose rocky sea-stacks so that they are safe from predators like Foxes, Pine Martens and Weasels... BUT, they cannot protect themselves easily from the attentions of Great Black Backed Gulls which cruise the colony looking for chicks and weaklings. I was trying to photograph the puffins and only discovered that I'd got this shot of one running for cover once I got the pictures into the computer.

Here's a link to a shot (not mine) of a Great Black Backed Gull doing its predatory thing: http://tinyurl.com/oaldhu5

A neighbour's cat, which is a local menace to birds, often sits in the shadows high in the trees, waiting for birds.

Not an original idea, but thought I would give it a go. I'm a rookie with a camera. Armed myself with some affordable gear and a couple of courses. Now its time to practice.

I was trying to complete this shadow assignment and my idea was turning out lame. Then I looked down at the only flower blooming and its wicked shadow.
