I'm thinking there will perhaps be some photo opportunities on the 1-year anniversary of the massacre by ABB on July 22nd

Maybe those comments here should be pushed over to the discussion thread...? viewtopic.php?f=36&t=30400
MOD: They should indeed, to keep the submissions thread easy to browse and judge later on. Moved your posts over here. Bjorn

The problem is: Germany and "nationalism"/"patriotism" is not really a connection that is accepted nowadays. At least in Germany. "Why you love your country" sounds a bit better but it's hard to find something particular that makes me happy living in Germany. I like my country but I could just as well live in UK, USA or NZ if there wasn't my family around me. Still I don't want a shot of my family in this thread.

Hi all,
From the comments on the thread meant for pictures only, it looks like this subject might get a bit heated. Well I hope not! Hope the pictures tell the stories, not history trying to repeat itself with new generations. I'll try to enter a picture this month, being British and proud of it mmm.

John :D

I don't want to heat anything. It's just that "historical thing with our country" that makes me think a bit more.

I miss the food in Germany. The small towns and villages and the different markets or Fest`s. But it does appear that, these days Germans don`t like to been seen as too patriotic.
What I like about Australia, we are a long way from all of you. :P

I'm British but I haven't lived there for almost 10 years. Most expats in countries I've lived in are "proud to be British". I have no such feelings. Pride is something you earn, not something given as a result of where you happened to be born.

Proud to be British? No.
Lucky? Absolutely!

This will be a tough one. I think I'll have to find a shot of someone else being proud of an accident of birth.

The possibilities of this topic are endless. Here, Scottish athletes are shown in training
for the upcoming Olympics ... the 'last man standing' or 'all-week-bender' event.

Sorry for the cynicism, but I fear that this month is not going to be Vintage.

Hehe.

I re-read the brief and I think my interpretation is acceptable.

It's too bad that July had to be picked for this theme, I was in Canada's capital, Ottawa, this February and got some excellent shots.

This would've been a great shot (aside from the people walking on the right, but that's not too difficult to fix with PS), it was taken on parliament hill, right after question period when the politicians were leaving. Who knew that they only had to work until 3:00? And they complain about their jobs...
