MAY 22ND - Poll closed, congratulations to Popo for winning this assignment!

Hi everyone! Welcome to April's Assignment!

The theme for this month is "Genesis", as suggested by djfsolo who won the February 2010 competition. Be sure to read the whole post for the rules.

In djfsolo's own words:
    "Genesis

Defined: an origin, creation, or beginning.

Interpret this however you like. Series of images are welcome. No limits on post-processing."

The rules!

1: You can only submit one image and it MUST be taken during April 2011. Photos taken earlier will be disqualified!

2: All images submitted must be no more than 1024 pixels on their longest side, although you can include a link to a full resolution version if you like. Flickr users must link back to the original version to comply with its latest rules.

As always, please exercise good judgement on what is suitable for the forum. Keep it clean and family-friendly or it'll be removed. See the Forum Rules for guides.

Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any particular challenges in doing so like, for example, any special exposure or lighting setup.

We're all enthusiasts here, so it's also great to see what equipment you used and the settings too. So please also include the following:

Camera Model:
Lens and focal length:
Aperture:
Shutter Speed:
Sensitivity:
Post processing:

Submissions will close at midnight GMT on 30th April 2011. The final poll will follow.

Please remember this thread is for submissions only. If you'd like to comment on any of the submissions or ask any questions, please do so in the April2011 Comments and Questions thread!

Thanks and good luck!

- Bjorn -

I started taking photos without any particular interest, like many of us. Portraiture marked the beginning of my passion for photography. I've gotten more interested in street work now, but it's fun at times to go back in time and shoot some posed portraits.

I'm lucky to be able to see this mountainscape from home ... when the Scottish weather permits that is! But when dawn
happens bigtime as it did the other day, it really takes your breath away. Dusted off my Bible and added the text Genesis 1v.2-5.

Image

PP: Inverted the text into the negative and extracted the letters en bloc using PS 'colour range' tool.
Added that layer on top of the landscape, rotated it and set the Layer Option to 20% opacity. Crop, Frame, Flatten
and Resize.

I always seem to relate 'Genesis' with the Bible or Phil Collins for some strange reason.
