MIDNIGHT 21ST SEPTEMBER - POLLS CLOSED - WE HAVE A WINNER!

Congratulations to popo for winning the August assignment with 10% of the votes! As always this means popo gets to choose the theme for our next assignment, and has until the end of September to let us know what it is - please let us know in the August 2010 COmments and Questions thread!

Congratulations to everyone who entered, and especially to our winner and runners-up. In joint second place came AL and Razvan with 8% of the votes each, followed by KevinM, 4agze and daisy in joint third place with 4% of the votes each.

MIDNIGHT 31ST AUGUST - SUBMISSIONS CLOSED!!!

VOTE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE PHOTO!

PS - please remember to vote fairly. Please don't ask your friends to vote for you as this can easily skew the result. Thanks, Gordon

Hi everyone! Welcome to August's Assignment!

The theme for this month is "Colour", as suggested by naniani who won the June 2010 competition. Be sure to read the whole post for the rules.

In naniani's own words:

"My choice for next months assignment is COLOUR.
You can submit an entry which is dominant in any one colour of your choice, Or it can be a variety of colours. It can be contrasting, or moody, dramatic , bright and bold, or very subtle, i leave it up to you to decide. I would like to see photos that scream out WOW. So come on everyone have a go show us what you can do.
No colour popping is allowed, and not too much pp.
I hope to see loads of entries.
Good luck to you all.
Sue"

The rules!

1: You can only submit one image and it has to be taken during August 2010. Photos taken earlier will be disqualified!

2: All images submitted must be no more than 500 pixels on their longest side, although you can include a link to a full resolution version if you like. Flickr users must link back to the original version to comply with its latest rules.

As always, please exercise good judgement on what is suitable for the forum. See the Forum Rules for guides.

Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any particular challenges in doing so like, for example, any special exposure or lighting setup.

We're all enthusiasts here, so it's also great to see what equipment you used and the settings too. So please also include the following:

Camera Model:
Lens and focal length:
Aperture:
Shutter Speed:
Sensitivity:
Post processing:

Submissions will close at midnight GMT on 31st August 2010. The final poll will follow.

Please remember this thread is for submissions only. If you'd like to comment on any of the submissions or ask any questions, please do so in the August 2010 Comments and Questions thread!

Thanks and good luck!

- Bjorn -

I was playing about with my new 10-20mm and ND8 today, and spotted this leaf trying its best to hang onto a rock in a stream.

This years dour grey Scottish summer offered no colourful photo opportunities, so a visit to an oriental cash-and-carry solved my problem!
