I went backpacking on the Juan De Fuca Trail over Easter weekend. Unfortunately the weather was just short of a hurricane the whole time, so I didn't have much of an opportunity to shoot. On the last day it cleared up a bit, and I had to wade across a river to get this shot. Well worth the effort I think!

Here we go:

Image

Camera Model: Canon 500D
Lens and focal length: Canon 18-55mm IS (kit lens) @ 20mm
Aperture: f18
Shutter Speed: 1/200
Sensitivity: ISO800
Processing: Crop, small amount of noise reduction, and some extra vibrance, all in LightRoom 3 Beta 2

Other: Used fill flash on shutter priority to see if I could get motion blurred background with sharp rider, and if I was really lucky trails.

As it turns out, this was the only image using this technique that wasn't completely blurry. For the rest of the shots I just changed to a 1/1000 shutter speed, which worked a lot better. Still, experimentation is the name of the game for me, not making magazine worthy photos ;)

Here we go:
I think this Picture fits the Motion theme very well, because for me it represents a voyage, which we ( my family and I, they are the people in the middle) were taking through Bali, Indonesia and on this particular day we were exploring the rich ricefields.

The Picture is a Panorama made from 5 seperate pictures.
The setttings apply to all of them:

Camera Model: Canon 450D
Lens and focal length: Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 @ 17mm
Aperture: F8
Shutter Speed: 1/250
Sensitivity: ISO200
Processing: Panorama, Some light adjustments, some color and contrast

Enticed the birds with bird seed mix placed outside the window. This is a red bellied female woodpecker taken through the window after she had chosen her prize. Shot on shutter priority to stop motion mid flight.

Photo of a local Dj in my home town. Shot 3rd of April 2010. Used ‘long exp’ with flash and slowly twistet the cam for the blurry effect. Lightroom used for more contrast.

A shot taken at the 2010 Warbirds over Wanaka airshow this Easter weekend.

See my Airshow photography post in the action forum for more information!

Canon EOS 550D / T2i with EF 70-300mm DO at 285mm f7.1, 1/800, 200 ISO

This shot is uncropped and unprocessed - it's the JPEG straight out the camera.

I was looking for something to use as the assignment for this month.
I caught this almost by accident as my step father put his bush hog back together.

Yesterday I first read about this month's assignment and thought "OK, well, I shot a foto some days ago which might fit..." And here it is.

"Always have a camera with you - whatever it is - it's the best you have"
OK, could have said it the short way "didn't have my DSLR with me" but well - my Powershot SX-10 IS did a good job as well:

Image
Panned.

Canon Powershot SX-10 IS
ISO 400
Focal length: equiv. 54mm
Exposure: 1/10 sec
(Exp. -2/3)
F 3.5
No flash (you just cannot use the flash on those fire trucks)

Some usual pp like contrast and noise correction.

Another picture taken shortly after - but this fire truck didn't get that sharp:

And yes, that's a Boeing 747 in the backgound
