Great idea about the username thats a nice way to customise it, however may be inpractical in production/cost terms. Putting everyones avators on it would also come under this problem and the design just wouldnt work with avators on it.

Never the less here is your CUSTOMISED camara labs member badge

Haha mr_barks I guess I should thank you for that! :P

You have a point though. Customisation would drastically increase prices. I vote for your original! :D (although customisation would rock :D)

Imagine if we all went round wearing those badges on our camera bags. I can see camera labs growing ten fold from the sheer publicity of it. After all we have over 2000 members here now. I would love it if Gordan choose my design for the 'offical camera labs badge'. It would be a great piece to put into my design portfolio too. 8)

For more on that 1981 camera have a look at this site. Only 400 ever made so not enough for Gordon to give to every forum member,
18 carat gold plated with brown leather and with an SMC Pentax f/1.2 50mm lens, also with brown leather and gold finish.
The ultimate toy for medallion man or woman. Whoever thought "bling" was a modern invention. :)

I am so in love. 8)

Still the cap is made of el-cheapo plastic.

... Am I thinking that I'm seeing what I'm thinking that I'm seeing - a dirty fingerprint on the gold?? :x tsk, tsk, tsk.

Some of you may already have seen my custom made gloves:

Image

I bought some gloves and put the Alpha-logo on it myself. I also made a hat and a scarf, which you can partially see in the picture below. It was taken for a 'fashion-shoot' I had to do for school.

I also have two T-shirts with the Alpha-logo, one of them is shown here:

That's not me in the picture, I'm the one behind the camera

Now what I'm going to try to do is to get the Camera Labs logo on both the T-shirt and the scarf too. I hope it will look just as good as mr_barks' badge, great work.

And BTW: I'd love to have one of those action figures. Maybe you could offer them in different combinations: one with a Nikon DSLR, one with a Canon, and, for me of course, one with a Sony Alpha.

For those who may be interested: here's a 'commercial' for the Alpha Clothingline, a school projects for Arts.

Bob and Cheezbrgr: that looks like some expensive gear. Maybe I should pimp my old Praktica in a similar way!

Hahahaha Orsan,

I'm sure old "Mr. Triple-Nipple" would enjoy adding this to his collection, if James Bond hadn't waxed him already..

Great to see "The Classics" haven't been completely forgotten :-)

Cheers!

Hey Bjorn, nice gloves!

Hmm, that gold Pentax is a bit tacky, but then on the other hand... it sure gets the bling vote! Wonder how heavy it is...

PS - on a side note, the highly informative Digital Retro book from Gordon Laing includes the following nugget about the Commodore 64:

"to celebrate its millionth sale in Germany, 200 golden and extremely rare CBM-64s were produced."

Niiice!
