Jake, my uncle has a computer store and his supplier stocks Peak 266x which is the same as extreme IV i think. £22 for a 2Gb one IF memory serves me correctly, i'll have a look and tell you on msn tomorrow.

Beats the hell out of paying for Sandisk, and tbh, Peak have been doing Flash Memory for a good while now too!

Pretty nifty, got 3 of them [as stated above] and they work really well, get about 20 odd shots in RAW before it slows down, and then it empties between 1.4 and 2.2 photos per second out the buffer, just depends on size of the RAW file. JPG is unlimited, shoot till you fill the card.

Now Considering Buying:

Lots more recharageable AA batteries for flashgun...ran through 8 of them today in a space of 4-5 hours shooting at a skate park [check the flickr =)]

That'd be great.
As if now, this is my camera gear list plus or minus a few things. Grand total: 6441.62USD. I should add I hopefully wont have to buy the camera myself so minus 1500ish Also, I don't really think i want the 75-300, i do want the 70-200f/4L (I'd like the f/2.8 or the IS but they're both double) I also don't care to much for the 14-40, not sure why its on there. i want the 70-200, because I know the f/2.8 and for that matter f/4 are great lenses, and people talk so highly about them, theres a 1.6 crop factor, and its an L which its good to have one.

Prioritized: 40D (24-135) then the cards, then the grip, then the 70-200, Hopefully all that by xmas maybe a bit more.

Canon 40D kit
Sandisk 4GB CF
Sandisk 4GB CF
BG E2N Battery Grip
EF 75-300mm USM
EF-S 60mm Macro f/2.8
EF 14-40mmL
580EX II Flash
580EX II Flash
580EX II Flash
Pocket Wizard Plus II
Pocket Wizard Plus II
Pocket Wizard Plus II
Pocket Wizard Plus II
EF-S 10-20mm
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L

minus the things I don't want (mentioned above)= $3962 + any other dumb stuff I may buy (straps, bags) the grand total will probably end up back around 6k. :)

I need a job.

Jake

I've put myself on a budget (€0,- per month) so I'll be able to buy a 70-200 F2.8 G SSM as soon as possible. No purchases for me the following months...

HOLY SCHNIKE! i would love that kit but i can't afford that either, maybe you should start off with just the bare kit and work your way up then also down the road you still have something to lookfoward to.

Well, my wife is starting to get a little serious into photography with me. And I did promise her that I'll buy her own DSLR once she actually feels comfortable from stepping away with her regular point and shoot. So I bought her one, along with skipping the kit lens and getting her a more useful one for her type of photography. Which is 40% macro, 50% landscape, and 10% mild portraits, while keeping lens changes to a minimum, so basically a 'walkaround' lens.

So with that in mind, I bought:
Silver Canon 400D Rebel Xti body
Sigma Zoom Super Wide Angle AF 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC Macro AF lens

YEP I COULD'VE BOUGHT A ZD 12-60mm SWD , but hey, photography is more fun when you have a love one to enjoy and share it with you. I told her she's on her own with the accessories (bags, memory cards, etc) lol. And oh, why didn't I get her an Olympus model so we can share lenses, she wanted the Canon because she likes the silver color.

Tomis, its a really long list, and I hope that I have a lot of it knocked out by 2010, it will take me the longest to get like the 24-70 and such. And thats not everything, I don't have certain things written down, lightstands, umbrellas, softboxes, bags, cables, the stuff that goes along with all of that, a new camera bag.

My girlfriend wants a DSLR but I cant really afford to buy her one, Being a student and all. If I could I would buy her a sony A200 and then we could share lens's and go on trips together.

At the moment she has a lumix TZ3 which she takes when we go places.

Ah, I dunno dude, even if you could just about afford to buy her one, leave that to her parents, that's what parents are for. That and if heaven forbid the relationship went to pot, you couldn't ask for the camera back  I thought of telling my sister to buy a D40, so she could share my lenses, but it's just as well I didn't otherwise we'd be swapping lenses left right and centre if we ever went somewhere together with their own DSLR.

a 250-gig Western Digital portable hard drive, purchased to store a second copy of files when on location...... I plugged it into my aging 12-inch PowerBook, running 10.3, thinking that it may not open any files, and it just works...... you have just got to love APPLE

when working from home base, part of my travel kit is a 17 inch iMac, loaded with CS3 for working while away from home base. I find that this saves a lot of time, and a better service to my clients

....... it is all about having an edge, and better service

I have decided that i really want the d300 so i am going to work at my dads office for $10/hr(tax free of course :D)For this week, pulling in around $400. Plus my parents will pay for around $600-700 for my bday in july (they always let me have a cash early) I am going to call the store tomorrow and ask how much they'd take my D80+Mb-D80 in excellent condition for. I have some cash already, so if they say around $500(prob less tho). I can get a D300! Then more work  and on to my first sports lens: a 70-200mm f/2.8

PS.:I have to work my *bleep* off at my dads office so dont think im getting easy money.
