Just bought the NIKKOR 18-200mm VRII, and thought I'd take a stab at an air show. I'm really impressed at the lens' capabilities.

Memorial Day weekend in Oaji (oh-hi) CA. This snap benefits from an LR4 Sepia treatment and some crop. I put another snap from the same trip to
Oaji in this months 'On Assignment' thread.

Nice! I assume you used an IR filter. Is it possible to achieve this look during PP, or can it only truly be achieved with a physical filter much the same way as with a polarizing filter?

Yes, that is an IR image. I've heard you can fake it for certain types of scenery but I haven't really tried.

You can fake about anthing but I guess it's quite a LOT of work.

Sorry but i have to double post this as it only happens once every 175 yrs.

Our best attempt at photographing the transit of venus on 6 june 2012.

Alexandra, Central Otago, New Zealand.

Taken with an iphone 4S through a mocked up theodolite with a piece of perspex taped to the eye piece.....:)

Don't complain, I don't think any of mine will be much better. But at least I saw it at all! Sorting out pics now...

The next door neighbour had his little run around parked outside today so i took the opportunity to grab a quick photo. I havent photographed cars before so this is my first attempt. Showed mark (my neighbour) and he liked it so much he has offered to give me a ride in it to a better photo location in the spring. :)

I like the shot and the plate. I can appreciate the No Rain thing. Here in the mojave we live an essentially rain free existence. What are you using in post?

My catch of yesterday:

Phenomenal amount of detail information and photographic substance in this photo. What is the white substrate? Also, the dot to the right of the upper wing- is it noise or particle somewhere? Please keep the 'snaps' coming!
