Post subject: What car do you drive
PostPosted: Sun Mar 23, 2008 12:48 am
Seeing as there is no topic for Cars/Trucks/Trains/Planes etc. Thought i would put this here.... if Gordon or any of the mods would like/care to start a topic on these lines and then transfer this one to there I would only be too happy.

So here is mine parked up on location at one of my favourite bridges on the GWML.
It is a Land Rover Discovery 7 Seater ES Auto with a 4.0 Litre Petrol Engine.

P.S. If you do post a picture of yours please rub out part or all of the registration plate for security reasons.... also if too young to drive or own your own car take a piccie of your dads/mums with there permission of course,

So YOU are responsible for killing the planet Roy!

I drive a beat-up Honda Accord. Nothing fancy. In fact when I have all my camera gear in the car it's worth more than the car. Shh...don't tell anybody.

Now I am not having a go at you Zorro... but with your "beat-up Honda Accord" you are probably chucking out more Carbon Monoxide than I am.
To prove this theory my car has a 4.0 Litre petrol engine, my partner's car is a 2002 Toyota Avensis Verso with a 2.0 Litre engine, last year we did a comparison after the annual MOT and her emissions read out on all was higher than mine, we did this comparison because she was banging on about why she should pay more per year for her road tax than I, so that is the reason why she does.

So Zorro if you want to do your bit to save the planet get shot of the Accord and get yourself a beat-up Land Rover instead

Nah mate, not my style.

Tell you what though, I'm guessing your car consumes twice as much fuel as my Honda. I'm also betting that due to about twice the weight it's doing almost twice the damage to the roads. As it's a Disco I'm guessing servicing is more frequent and more costly than my lowly Honda too. I'm also guessing that when it finally comes time to consign it to that great boggy moor in the sky it'll cost more to dispose of.

Having said all that, what I really want is a Nissan GTR and stuff the planet

Yes probably drinks more than twice yours, it's weight about 2.3 Tonnes, does no more damage to the road as yours or any other car (its overweight continental lorries that do the damge), sevicing once a year same as any other car bit pricey but hey I knew that when I bought it, when it comes to dispose of it.... can't see that far into the future "LR's go on forever LR motto "One Life Live It".
Primarily I have got the car to tow my Caravan unladen weight 1.7 Tonnes so need a car like the Disco to tow it.
Anyway this post was intended for others to post pictures of their vehicles not a lengthy debate on cars and the environment.
