Does anyone have any practical tips please for heading out in to the rain with a camera? Every planned camera session last week and at the weekend was scuppered due to rain

It's very frustrating.
I have seen people at our local beaches in the past with their cameras wrapped in plastic freezer bags (hole cut out for the lens and held on with an elastic band), but for taking snaps on the move this doesn't seem so practical as standing still with the camera on a tripod.
I have to admit to feeling a little precious about my camera (it's the most expensive one I've owned), so I'm nervous about venturing out into the rain and drizzle with it. I've only ever had to worry about a tiny point and shoot in the past.
I have seen some weatherproof covers for sale, though I've only found them for DSLRs. My camera is a Panasonic GX1.
Thank you,
Sarah
