I've watched their videos for long enough. Bokehlicious t-shirt aside, it wasn't until this week I bought something serious from them. On Tuesday night I ordered the Canon 40mm pancake lens. Normally I wouldn't look overseas to buy stuff, but someone at Canon must have used the exchange rate backwards when working out UK pricing compared to US. Anyway, the DR price of £169 delivered looked particularly attractive compared to a typical UK price of around £220+.

I wanted it delivered to my work address and entered it during ordering no problem. The e-mail confirmation didn't list the company name. This has happened before with another retailer, which causes issued with delivery. So I opened a ticket to check the address would be full and correct, which it was. All I had to do then was wait, with a new game of hitting refresh on the DHL tracking page.

The lens made swift progress, and I received it just before noon on Thursday. So that's about 2 days! Some UK stores don't manage to ship that fast, and they may charge you for it too.

Any catches to the low price? Only one that I can see. As a grey import it is not eligible for local Canon warranty, so if anything goes wrong you will need to rely on DR to provide support, which they also offer within the UK thus avoiding the need to ship it back overseas. I only hope I wont need to test that. A minor note to add is they say they will pay any taxes due, as they get charged that directly by the courier. So there's no surprise fees for the buyer on receipt.

And what about the lens? I'll write more on that later when I've had more of a chance to use it.

.
And if anyone wants to use DigitalRev and wants to help keep the lights on here at CameraLabs then, at no extra cost to yourself, why not start the purchase by clicking on the banner advert at the top of each forum page?

And no, I'm not on commission

Bob.
