The Louisiana Film Prize Contest and Festival (www.LAFilmPrize.com
) invites filmmakers from all over the world to create and present a short film under one condition – it must be shot in the Shreveport-Bossier area. The winner will receive a grand prize of $50,000.
The top 20 films will be selected to promote and screen their film during the LA Film Prize Festival Weekend, October 5-7th. The winner will be chosen based on the votes of a panel of expert judges from all over the country, as well as the vote of the festival audience. Finalists are encouraged to heavily promote their film and enlist support from friends, family and the public to heighten their chances of winning.
Not only do the filmmakers have an opportunity to win $50,000, there is also a plethora of free stuff. A huge example is that the local Movie Studio Millennium is giving up almost EVERYTHING they offer for FREE to LAFP participants! These guys have two sound stages, 14,000 square feet of furnished production office space with internet acces, copiers, and supplies, hair/makeup rooms, a construction mill, pre-built specialty sets, and much more. The full service prop house and production service company can help you flesh out your production.
Did I mention that the incentives of Louisiana in general alone are phenomenal.
30% tax credit on qualified direct production Louisiana expenditures
Additional 5% tax credit for payroll expenditures to Louisiana residents
No annual cap
Tax credits may be used to offset income tax liability in Louisiana (corporate or personal), sold back to the State for 85% face value, or brokered on the open market.
TL;DR Short Film Fest. Could win $50,000. Only rule is to shoot in Shreveport-bossier. Free use of space. Great Tax returns. Go to lafilmprize.com for more info.
