Hi folks,
They may produce the best search engine in town (but we used to say that about Alta Vista so things can change) but Google has too many fingers in too many pies for my liking. Now they are about to update their privacy policy (
UK version) and U.S. lawmakers are apparently investigating the new terms (
source).
On first glance Google say they are doing a good thing but on their FAQs (
UK version) they offer in response to the question "What should I expect to see change as a result of this?" the answer that "Over time, you can expect to see better search results, ads and other content when you’re using Google services". Read the full FAQs for a complete picture but to me that's as good as Google admitting that it will be using the data it collects on you from its various separate component entities and sharing that data amongst those entities. Or have I got it wrong?
Bob.
