So many people come back with complaints about the Sky Walk. It takes hours to get there. Then you have to get a mini bus from the gate to the sky walk (at extra cost), then you have to pay to get on the skywalk, now you have to pay for pics.
I strongly suggest stumping up the dosh for a helicopter from Vegas. I was a bit shocked by the $250+ each price tag but it was worth every penny.
Take as many pictures as you like, fly over the Hoover Dam, fly past the sky walk, land in the bottom of the canyon, have a picnic (included in price). Fly back down the Vegas strip. We went in December so the strip was lit and the sky darkening in the late afternoon.
Especially if it's a once in a lifetime visit... you don't want to use a whole day sat on a coach do you?
