Tacita Dean transforms Tate Modern into cinema

Quote:
'Beautiful medium'

In recent months, Dean has voiced concern about the declining availability of film as digital technology becomes the norm and photochemical labs close down.

"I suddenly realised we are just about to lose this really beautiful medium we created 125 years ago," she said.

But she added she was not against digital film-making.

"Digital is also a fantastic medium. It's got massive potential," she said. "But I love film and I don't want to lose my ability to make film and it looks like I probably will."

I watched this for about 1 minute a few weeks ago when I was there. I got bored pretty quickly. I like her message, i.e. film is not the same as digital, but I do not think the exhibition was particularly interesting and from the shaking heads and people walking away when I was there, I guess a lot of other people agree. Still, I am sure a lot of people appreciated it.
