i bought a nikon d70 two years ago on ebay, and it is still working fine

I would only buy second hand gear from a Romanian photo website,which is known to advertise from & for serious people. I got my D80 from a student that wanted to do give up on his hobby. (and he only shot JPEGs )
I always thought of Ebay of something very commercial & careless for their services,since they can't be responsable for the trades. Maybe I'm wrong,but receiving things by mail seems the perfect setup for scams.
My only advice is to buy from your hometown & meet with the seller,so that you can inspect the gear properly.

No. i would never buy anything from e-bay. If i would live in uk, us, or somwhere where its more known, maybe. But not here.

I even dont buy from slovakian websites until its a) cheap b) close.
