Hi

Well as you know I am lodged in New Zealand. That small relatively insignificant couple of isles just off to the right of Australia.

With a population of under 5 million we don't have a lot of buying power and buying gear at a good price can be difficult. For example looking to buy a in car charger for my canon camera batteries would cost 2-3 times that which it would cost in the uk.

I use amazon a lot (incl the link from camera labs !) but we are a long long long long way away from the rest of the world and postage can be almost as much as the order value. Not many places offer free shipping to the ends of the earth.

So I have to buy off amazon and get the items delivered to a uk address, no problem I have lots of relatives.

What I would like to know is that with items that appear on amazon as can't be shipped to NZ is there any reason why I cannot have these items forwarded from uk to NZ by my relatives?

Am I breaking international shipping laws or anything?

The items are paid for in the uk, I pay the tax etc so they are technically and legally mine....

Any thoughts ?

Ta

Rob

Hi robbon44,

Provided there is no prohibition by the NZ authorities on importing such goods I don't see a problem. Yes, you might have to pay some import duty and you almost certainly will run into warranty issues but those are the trade-offs you will have to balance against price and availability, or lack thereof.

Bob.

Ye that's what I thought but always good to double check.

Would interested in Gordon's opinion in ordering goods in to NZ? I'm sure you have faced the same issues ?

Audio man also ? How do you manage ?
